Your Toolkit is marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, an annual global campaign beginning on the 25th of November, the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ending on Human Rights Day, 10th of December.
Gender-based violence (GBV) encompasses any act of violence that is based on the gender of the victim, or experienced disproportionately by a particular gender. Most commonly, violence is experienced by women, from men who they are, or have previously been in an intimate relationship with.
16 Days in WA.
This year, WA individuals and communities throughout the state have the opportunity to show their support against Gender-based violence by contributing to the ‘16 Days in WA’ campaign.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about how to speak up against GBV, and support organisations that are working towards ending violence against women.
What can you do?
Family violence continues to be a driver of gender inequality, including the disproportionate experience of violence for women. Supporting organisations such as Your Toolkit, helps to spread awareness of the commonality of GBV, and the tools you can use to challenge disrespectful actions in your workplace, and community.
Contact Your Toolkit to get your organisation or community team involved in the ‘16 Days in WA’ campaign. Lend a hand and volunteer your time, or invite Your Toolkit to present to your team and hold a fundraising event at your workplace.
We address how to be an active bystander, and how to address gender-based violence, including domestic violence, in the workplace.
Social Media
As always, social media is a very influential tool to open discussions about gender based, and domestic violence. We encourage you to share and show your support over the 16 days and use the hashtags #16daysinWA #stoptheviolence #dontbesilent #yourtoolkit
